Diagnostic Procedures (x-rays)
Diagnostic procedures are more commonly known as x-ray. X-ray is used to see structures within the body, such as bones. X-ray may also be used to view soft tissues such as the lungs or structures in the abdomen.
Minor diagnostic procedures, such as a chest x-ray or x-ray of a bone do not require any preparation or appointment.
Diagnostic procedures that require the use of a contrast agent (dye) are scheduled and may require preparation prior to the test.
Fluoroscopy utilizes x-ray to create moving pictures. Fluoroscopy may be used to look at the internal structures such as the colon (large intestines) or stomach. Fluoroscopy can also help in placement of devices such as pacemakers or needles for biopsies.
