Mammograms find between 85 and 90 percent of
breast cancers and up to two years before they can be felt, which means at a
very early stage, when the cancer is most curable. Why wouldn't you want to get
one?
"For many women cost is an issue when it comes to
their own health," says Nancy Lewis, RN, nurse liaison for the ICAP Women's
Health Clinic and Mammogram Assistance Program. "If you are uninsured or
underinsured, we can help provide you with a free screening mammogram at Henry
County Hospital."
If you would like to help fund this local program
and have fun at the same time, the 3rd Annual Pink Ribbon Rush 5k
run/walk is set for Saturday, June 16. The event was founded by Henry County
resident Erin Edminson roan whose grandmother died of breast cancer when she
was just 6 months old.
