Henry County Hospital has received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC).
"Becoming an Accredited Chest Pain Center was a great opportunity for Henry County Hospital to demonstrate our commitment to our patients and cardiology care," explains Chief Nursing Officer Carrie Williams, RN. Williams also added that during the site survey, the surveyor was very complimentary of what HCH had achieved.
To become an Accredited Chest Pain Center, we were rigorously evaluated by SCPC for our ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. This means we:
- Use standardized diagnostic and treatment programs
that provide more efficient and effective evaluation
and more appropriate and rapid treatment of patients
with chest pain and other heart attack symptoms.
- Treat patients more quickly during the critical
window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle
can be preserved.
- Monitor patients when it is not certain that they are
having a heart attack to ensure they are not sent
home too quickly or needlessly admitted to the hospital.
- Try to reduce the time from onset of heart attack
symptoms to diagnosis and treatment by supporting
programs educating the public to promptly seek
medical care if they display symptoms of a possible
heart attack.
