Lace up those sneakers and walk your way to better health by
participating in the Feet & Forks for Fitness program. This is a free, six-week program beginning on
June 18 and ending on July 29, designed to encourage walking as a form of
exercise.
Program participants will
receive a walking log to keep track of their walking efforts as well as have
the opportunity to attend a weekly group educational / motivational session and
walk. The group sessions will take place
on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Main Entrance of Baker Park and will
feature a different speaker and topic each week.
You can participate as an individual or as part of a
team - this would be a great way to connect with your friends or family as well
as work, school, or faith-based groups. Registration is due by June 12 to the Extension Office.
As an added bonus to participate, the first 50 people to
register for Feet & Forks for Fitness will receive complimentary registration
to the Summit Lake 5K Walk/Run, which will take place on Saturday, July 28. For those who have never experienced the
satisfaction that comes from crossing a finish line, here is your chance!
Feet & Forks for Fitness is made possible through a grant
from the Indiana State Department of Health-Office of Women's Health and
INShape Indiana and is supported locally by: Henry County Hospital, Purdue
Extension, ICAP, Henry County Cardiology, Henry County United Fund, Henry
County Community Foundation, New Castle-Henry County Public Library, Smoke Free
Henry County Coalition, and WMDH AM and FM.
