If you were stopped in the aisle at this year's Affairs of the Heart by two 9 year olds
from Knightstown Elementary, you walked away impressed by their passion and
commitment to someone they haven't even met.
Friends Kylee Fox and Olivia Sherman are two little girls
with very big hearts.
"He's had two open heart surgeries already," Kylee
said.
The girls passed out note cards that read: "Pray for
Caleb, for his family, and the future donor's family."
Caleb is a 2-year-old awaiting a heart transplant. On the
evening of Affairs of the Heart, it
was day 119 at the Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis, the girls said.
"We've had fundraisers before and have raised $1,000 so
far," said Olivia. "We are going to meet him soon and take the family the
money."
Caleb is grandchild to Cynthia Cox, who is a fourth-grade
teacher at Knightstown Elementary. Kylee is in Mrs. Cox's class.
Mrs. Cox, according to Olivia's mom, Kristin Sherman, has
been overwhelmed. "She cannot get over what these girls have done. We're
all very proud of them."
