PET/CT Important For
Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment
PET/CT is a non-invasive, highly accurate method to detect the early signs of cancer. PET/CT is more effective than a PET scan as it can more precisely determine where cancer is occurring.
PET/CT provides physicians with information about the body's chemistry, cell function and exact location of disease. The precise images obtained with PET/CT are not available with other technologies such as CT alone, MRI or x-ray.
For oncology patients, PET/CT is used to determine the exact location and stage of cancerous tissue and can prevent unnecessary surgery, biopsies and inappropriate treatment.
